Kefalonia recently became more popular due to the film "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" which portrayed a true story of when the Italian Soldiers (allies of the Germans during WWII) occupied the island. The Italian soldiers which had fell in love with the island and its people eventually joined with the locals to fight the Germans.

Kefalonia's natural beauty of its sheer cliffs that shelter the sandy beaches, clear blue seas, caves, lakes, rivers and green forests offer the perfect holiday destination to those who like to explore nature or enjoy the amazing scenery.

Kefalonia Island has many peaceful resorts and traditional fishing villages with friendly and hospitable people.

Transportation - The Airport is on south of the island. Daily Flights to Athens are available that can connect to anywhere in Greece. For more information contact Olympic Airways. Ferries are available from the ports of Agostoli, Sami and Lixouri to and from the mainland (Patra, Astakos), other nearby islands (Killini, Ithakai, Lefkada, Zakythos) and Italy (Ancona and Bridisi). There is a bus service available to all areas of Kefalonia as well as many Taxi services.

Argostoli - is the capital and largest town on Kefalonia Island. Its a busy city with lots of night life mainly based around its main square with Discos, Cafe's, Restaurants, Taverns and Bouzouki Halls. Feaured Hotel - Myros Studios and Apartments

Skala (Scala) - Is situated on the South East of the Island. It is said to be one of the most beautify resorts with its mountainous back drop and breathtaking scenery including views of the nearby island of Zante.  It has a long sandy and shingle beach with some umbrellas and loungers for hire as well as water sports. Spartia - is a peaceful picturesque village situated away from the main tourist areas.  The sandy beach is popular with the locals but never becomes too crowded. Fiskardo - is in the north of Kefalonia island, the town some beautiful buildings of 18th - 19th century architecture as well as a lighthouse and the remains of a 15th century Venetian fortress across the harbor. Kefalonia Weather

During the warmer months of June, July, August and September the daily temperatures normally reach an average top of 30ºC, (86ºF). May and October are a little cooler with the average high temperature of 24ºC (75ºF). January is normally the coldest month with an average high temperature of 13ºC (56ºF) and average low temperature of 7ºC (45ºF).
