Mykonos Island is between Tinos Island and Naxos Island. Its an island with with very little vegetation but has some very good beaches with a shoreline of 80km's making this one of the most popular islands in the Cyclades for beach lovers. 

Even though the island is very lively with its vast tourism developments it is still a beautiful, picturesque island with its white-washed buildings, windmills, secluded churches, natural coastline and waterside cafe's glancing into the clear Aegean Sea. Many will have come to know Mikonos Island from the Movie ' Shirley Valentine ' which filmed on the beach of Agios Yiannis. The island is also know to be Gay friendly and have numerous nudist beaches.

The Nearby Island of Delos is easily accessible from Mykonos and has some ancient antiquities worth visiting.

Transportation - Daily Flights to and from Athens are available as well as flights to Rhodes, Santorini and Thessaloniki. Mykonos Town - This lively town has lots to offer for everyone, explore its narrow cobbled streets between the white-washes buildings for some traditional Greek atmosphere or enjoy a meal at one of the street cafes along side the harbor full of local fishing boats. Just on the outskirts of the town is the closest beach, 'Megalis Amos' which literally translated means 'Big Sand'. In the afternoons and evenings the town is closed to traffic and at night the town really comes alive with its many restaurants, bars and various night spots. 

Ornos Beach - Ornos is a small fishing village approximately 10 minutes on a bus from Mykons Town. Ornos is a quieter resort for those looking for a relaxing beach holiday. The long stretch of sandy beach with calm blue shallow waters making it idea for swimming. In the evening the village offers a calm nightlife with its few bars and taverns.

Plati Yialos - has two busy beaches both offering golden sands and water sports as well as a Water Park 'Watermania'. From Plati Yialos you can take boat trips to various other beaches on the island. 

Weather in Mykonos

During the warmer months of June, July, August and September the daily temperatures normally reach an average top of 26ºC, (79ºF). May and October are a little cooler with the average high temperature of 22ºC (71ºF). January is normally the coldest month with an average high temperature of 14ºC (58ºF) and average low temperature of 9ºC (49ºF).
