Crete is the largest of the Greek Islands with over 4000 years of civilization that is evident from its many Ancient Archaeological Sites. Transportation - There are three Airports on Crete, Heraklion (Iraklion), Sitia and Hania (Chania).  Fights are available to Athens and Thessaloniki as well as some islands such as Rhodes and Santorini. Heraklion is Crete’s capital and the fifth largest city in Greece. As well as the cities sights Heraklion is a busy city with its vast nightlife, street café’s and inviting tavern’s serving traditional meals. Centrally located in the North of Crete island Heraklion may be an idea place to stay if you wish to explore the island. 

Hersonissos - the resort town of Heronissos is one of the liveliest in Crete. Its sand and shingle beaches situated between the rocky coastline offer the perfect place to relax during the day or enjoy water sports. The town has many shops, bars, restaurants, taverns and discos. At night the town really comes to life with plenty of vibrant entertainment. A short distance from Heronissos there is a few tiny white washed villages with a few more traditional taverns.

Stalis (Stalida) is a smaller resort with a beautiful long sandy beach. The resort offers a good selection of taverns and restaurants many of them serving fresh fish. It has a friendlier laid-back atmosphere compared to its neighboring resort Heronissos.

Malia is one of the busiest resorts in Crete with its fast nightlife that continues through the day on its sandy beach then back to the night into many of its taverns, restaurants, fast food outlets, international bars and pubs, and discos. Its beach is said to be one of the best Beaches in Crete offering golden sand, good swimming and plenty of water sports. The old village of Malia still feels Cretan with its narrow streets, old buildings and hidden taverns. The Ancient Remains of Minoan Palace are near the resort.

Agios Nikolaos is a beautiful resort with Venetian built buildings. The town itself has a small pebble beach and a picturesque harbor with a few taverns, restaurants, bars and discos. Two sandy beaches are also close to the town. Boat trips are also available to the historical island of Spinaloga.

Chania (Hania) even though Chania is the islands second largest city it is still very Cretan with its winding streets, outdoor cafe's and local restaurants serving fresh seafood. Chania has a picturesque harbour with a Venetian light house and various other historical sights not forgetting a lovely coastline offering a few sandy beaches in the area. The towns main night life is based around the Harbour area with a variety of discos/clubs open until early hours of the morning.
